Winery with the Most Wine Labels
The family winery Degrassi is located in the far northwest of Croatian Istria, in the village of Bašanija, halfway between Umag and Savudrija. In the late eighties of the last century, father Bruno and son Moreno started with modest wine production for the family restaurant.
A bit later, in 1996, they released their first wine label on the market and soon opened a modern wine cellar with an elegant tasting room and enoteca. Degrassi Winery is one of the most significant Istrian wineries in recent history, maintaining quality continuity in its wines from day one.
In addition to traditional grape varieties such as Istrian Malvasia, Refošk, and Teran, Degrassi Winery also offers a range of standard international grape varieties and some unusual ones for Istria, such as Viognier and Petit Verdot. They were among the first to start blending wines in the Bordeaux style, and today, they are present in the market with about 30 labels divided into four categories. They cultivate about twenty hectares of vineyards on both white and red soil. Degrassi Winery has by far the largest archive of its wines among all Istrian wineries, dating back to the distant year of 1997.
