Luciano and Family

The family winery Veralda has been inheriting the tradition of winemaking and viticulture since 1938. The winery is located on the edge of the picturesque hills of Buje at the Kršin estate between Brtonigla and Buje in the vicinity of one of the best Istrian Grand Cru positions, Santa Lucija.

The winery is named after the toponym located right next to the wine cellar because the family name Visintin is very common in Istria. Today, Veralda cultivates about 30 hectares of vineyards, all planted on white soil and in organic production. They prefer indigenous grape varieties such as Istrian Malvasia, Teran, Refošk, and a little Cabernet Sauvignon. They are present in the market with seven labels of still wines and even five labels of sparkling wines.

The winery has been led by siblings Luciano and Ketty from the beginning, with the support of their parents Nives and Narcizio. Today, Luciano's wife Marina and their educated enologist daughter Olga are also involved in the business. Veralda has won numerous domestic and international awards for its wines, with the most significant one being received in 2016. at Decanter when their wine "Istrian" from the 2015. harvest won a platinum medal and the title of Best in Show in its category.
