Great samples at the World of Malvasia and judging of wines and alcoholic beverages, and the 27th Vinistra takes place in June in Peškera Bay in Poreč.
The exact date is not yet known, but Vinistra organizers are optimistic and are not giving up. They are in daily communication with the Istrian Civil Protection Headquarters and believe that the largest Istrian wine event will take place in June, for the first time outdoors, in the Peškera bay in Poreč. They confirmed this during the week of judging wines and alcoholic beverages and the World of Malvazi, at the Parentium Plava Laguna hotel in Poreč.
"We are extremely happy that despite the corona crisis, after a year's break, we were able to organize the evaluation and the 12th Malvasia World as a traditional introduction to Vinistra. And in completely new circumstances. Due to epidemiological measures, for example, we reduced the number of commissions to three, and for foreign evaluators from Italy and Slovenia, PCR and antigen tests were made possible", said Nikola Benvenuti, president of Vinistra, the association of winemakers and winegrowers of Istria, and added that he is convinced that this year's event will keep.
"To this year's competition, a total of 415 wine samples and 20 spirits arrived, about 15 percent less than in previous years, as expected due to the corona crisis. At the 12th World of Malvasia, the informal world championship of this variety, we are evaluating 220 samples - from Croatia 166, Italy 24, Slovenia 20, Spain and Greece five each. As for the fresh wines, according to the samples tasted so far, I can say that the 2020 harvest was excellent, while the aged wines have a full and rounded taste", said Mario Staver, president of the evaluation committee.
That Vinistra is one of the symbols of Poreč and Istria was confirmed by the mayor of Poreč, Loris Peršurić, and the director of the TZ of the city of Poreč, Nenad Valenik, and Emil Perdec, a representative of Plava Laguna, a hotel company that has been a partner of this regional wine event for years, pointed out that tourism workers are extremely happy with the events. in these challenging times, especially in those where the focus is on experience and hedonism, and that's exactly what Istrian wines offer.
Wine lovers can already enjoy Istrian wines in the Morosini Grimani castle in Svetvičent, where Vinistra has a sales point and plans to organize pairings of top quality Istrian wines and cheeses on a weekly basis, and the cooperation has been confirmed by signing a contract with the Savičenta company.
