On the eve of Valentine's Day, more than 60 winemakers from the Istrian peninsula and about twenty of their colleagues from Kvarner and Croatian Uplands arrive in the capital. Everything is ready for the traditional En primeur.
On February 13, wine connoisseurs and wine lovers will gather at the Esplanade Hotel in Zagreb for the 11th edition of the Young Malvasia En Primeur, organized by Vinistra, the association of winegrowers and winemakers of Istria.
Vinistra was the first in Croatia, 13 years ago, to organize this attractive event modeled on the tasting of new vintages in France, and since then every year owners of restaurants, wine shops, cafe bars, distributors, hoteliers, wine critics and journalists have been waiting for February to enjoy socializing with winemakers and Malvasia's of the new vintage, from whom much is always expected, because the bar has been raised very high. Istrian winemakers will also be joined this year by colleagues from Kvarner with their Žlahtina's and Bregovita Hrvatska with inidgenous varieties from the 2022 harvest.
Traditionally, the tasting is divided into two parts, from 13:00 to 16:00 it is reserved exclusively for the business audience, and from 16:00 to 19:00 for the general public and wine lovers. Entrance is free, as every year, but everyone who wants to be a part of this beautiful wine story should register here.
"The 2022 vintage of Malvasia has exceptional potential, so all those who come to the 11th En primeur will enjoy excellent young wines. With this wine event, we have opened the season of events organized by our association, among which is the hosting of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, a prestigious wine judging event where more than 350 wine judges and experts from all over the world will gather in Poreč in May", says Luka Rossi the president of Vinistra - association of winegrowers and winemakers of Istria.
