Association Vinistra confirms Istria’s international reputation through continued collaboration with a renowned global museum
As part of the celebration marking the tenth anniversary of one of the world’s most important museum dedicated to wine – Cité du Vin in Bordeaux – a major international exhibition titled Around the World in 50 Vineyards opened in mid-February. Among fifty selected global wine stories, Istria has secured its place. This is the result of successful cooperation between Vinistra, the association of Istrian winegrowers and winemakers, and this prestigious museum.
Istria is presented through a powerful visual interpretation of the region. The photograph is signed by Vinistra’s official photographer, Istrian Neven Jurjak, better known by his artistic name Merlo De Graia. His work authentically conveys the character of the Istrian landscape, vineyards, and people.
“Participating in a project that brings together world wine regions is a great professional and personal recognition,” said the photographer.
Through his collaboration with Vinistra, Neven has systematically documented the growth and international affirmation of the Istrian wine scene, as well as the beauty of Istrian vineyard landscapes. That long-standing dedication has been transformed into a visual now communicating the strength and uniqueness of Istria as a wine destination to an international audience.
The Istrian Story at the Heart of Global Wine Culture
“The photograph presents Istria through the prism of light, terroir, and emotion – elements that form the core of its wine identity. Showcasing the Istrian wine landscape at an exhibition open to visitors throughout the year represents a significant step forward in promoting Istria on a global level. Within a museum visited annually by hundreds of thousands of wine lovers from around the world, the Istrian story gains space at the very heart of global wine culture,” said Luka Rossi, President of Vinistra.
The exhibition also marks a new phase in the cooperation between Vinistra and Cité du Vin. The partnership was officially signed during Vinistra’s study visit to Bordeaux in 2024, initiating a strategic connection between Istria and one of the world’s most influential wine institutions.
Participation in the anniversary exhibition is a concrete realization of this partnership and a confirmation of a shared vision – promoting wine regions through culture, education, and international knowledge exchange, further positioning Istria on the map of global wine destinations.
