For 25 years, Istrian winemakers have been opening their cellars to wine lovers on the last Sunday of the month. This year, visitors to the Wine Day can look forward to a new addition — the Wine Passport.
Another successful Vinistra is behind us, and just as it ends, Istria is already preparing for a new wine event. On Sunday, May 25, the traditional Wine Day will take place. The 25th edition will feature as many as 50 wineries and distilleries from across the peninsula.
Choose and enjoy – this could be the slogan for another wine-themed event organized by the Vinistra association in collaboration with the Istrian Region and the Istria Tourist Board. To avoid crowds and ensure a complete wine experience, entry tickets are available for a symbolic price of 10 euros through the Vinistra website.
After purchasing the ticket, you will receive a QR code via email. You can then exchange it for a wristband – your entry pass – at one of seven wineries. Wristbands can be collected between 9:30 AM and 6:30 PM at the following locations: Fakin in Motovun and Cattunar in Brtonigla (Northern Istria), Damjanić in Poreč (Poreč region), In Sylvis in Sv. Petar u Šumi (Central Istria), Dobravac in Rovinj (Rovinj region), Fuhtar in Nedešćina (Eastern Istria) and Medea in Vodnjan (Southern Istria).
Vinistra recommends choosing the nearest location for wristband collection. Once obtained, you’re free to visit wineries and distilleries throughout Istria.
Wine Passport: Collect stamps and enjoy a unique wine tour
"The ticket includes the tasting of three wines at each winery or three distillates at each distillery, and there is no limit to the number of locations you can visit. It is very important to make a reservation directly with the wineries and distilleries you wish to visit – a full list with email addresses is available on our website," notes Vinistra’s director, Ivan Marić.
The event will be officially open at 10:00 AM at Dešković Winery, which won the Champion title for young Malvasia at this year’s Vinistra The World of Malvasia wine competition.
A new feature this year is the Wine Passport, included with each ticket. It serves as both a souvenir and a guide for your wine and distillery tour. At every location you visit, don’t forget to ask for a stamp – a keepsake of your unique wine journey through the magical region of Istria.
