Over seven thousand euros for a new vineyard with clonal selection of Teran

More than 700 wine enthusiasts visited over fifty wineries and distilleries during the increasingly popular wine event The 24th edition of Open Cellar Day in Istria was marked by an excellent atmosphere.

Around fifty wineries and distilleries across Istria participated in the event, which was officially opened on Sunday morning at Bastian Winery in Buje, the champion of the 15th World of Malvasia in the young Malvasia category.

Upon collecting their tickets in the form of a wristband at one of the seven points/wineries, each visitor received a wine passport. In this passport, they collected stamps from the wineries where they tasted wines. The number of wineries was unlimited, but visitors needed to reserve their spots at the desired wineries via email to avoid crowds.

More than 700 tickets were sold online for the attractive event, raising over seven thousand euros for the new vineyard with a clonal selection of Teran.

This 100,000-euro project by the Vinistra association aims to preserve and promote Istrian Teran, a variety that has produced exceptional results in recent years. In collaboration with experts from the Institute of Agriculture and Tourism in Poreč and the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb, virus-free elite Teran vines have been selected and already planted in an ideal micro-location in the Motovun area.
