Legovina Wines

The tradition of winemaking and viticulture in the Legović family began in 1937 in the village of Mekiši near Kaštelir, when Anton Legović planted the first vineyard, which was then taken over by his son Albino. In the 1990s, the winery was taken over by Albino's son Valter, who elevated it to a higher level.

Valter is a trained oenologist who gained experience for years at the largest Istrian winery, Agrolaguna. Today, the business is slowly being taken over by his son Marko, also a trained oenologist. The crown of this family's work is the newly opened modern cellar with all the accompanying facilities. Since many families in the Kaštelir area bear the surname Legović and most produce wine for easier recognition, their brand is named Legovina.

They currently cultivate 12 hectares of vineyards on deep red soil at an altitude of 150-250 meters. The dominant grape variety in the vineyard is Istrian Malvasia, followed by Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, White Muscat, Teran, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. They offer twelve wine labels on the market divided into four categories: Perlata, Fresca, Matura, and the winery's star cuvées Nobile Blanc and Nobile Noir.
