Enoist Winery is one of the youngest wineries in Istria!

Enoist Winery is one of the youngest wineries in Istria, founded in 2022 by business partners and successful entrepreneurs Igor Markota and Kristijan Gagulić. Investing fresh capital from other industries into the wine sector has been a common global practice for the past sixty years. In our region, this trend began at the start of this century, and the investment by Markota and Gagulić follows a similar path. Such investments are a fantastic boost for the development of the Istrian wine scene, especially when they occur in rural parts of Istria where vineyards and wineries were previously absent.

Initially, they began by purchasing grapes until their young vineyard matures and they complete the construction of a modern wine cellar in the hamlet of Negričani, on the border between the municipality of Marčana and the city of Vodnjan. They chose one of Croatia's best enologist, Mr. Milan Budinski, as their wine consultant, who did an excellent job from the start. This young winery achieved outstanding results in the wine evaluations for Vinistra 2024, winning high gold medals for young and aged  Malvasia Istarska and aged Teran.

In addition to the location in Negričani, they are considering planting vineyards in several nearby areas. The winery's initial goal is to reach five hectares of vineyard plantings, which would eventually grow to ten hectares, and with an olive grove, they would complete the vision of a small boutique winery. Today, they market around 20,000 bottles of wine, primarily young Malvasia Istarska, followed by aged Malvasia Istarska and Teran, with new labels soon to be released.
